Lambert's Basement - Episode #99

Lambert's Basement - Episode #99

Unfortunately we bring one more repeat this week, due to David being incredibly busy at the moment. Apologies all round, folks.

Another episode of Lambert's Basement, and another week where Igor has his attention on his H.G.Wells book. Though this does give Dave an idea! Since the temporal twosome didn't celebrate Hallowe'en - AND it's soon Dave's birthday - the intrepid Ingram decides that next week there'll be a trip back to meet a different Welles. This one……Orson! Have you made the connection yet? Has the penny dropped? Will you listen right to the end this week? If not you'll miss out on high-fidelity versions of Benny Goodman, Les Brown, Billy May and…..ANOTHER CRASHING CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!!!! Due to a large overhaul in schedules there hasn't been a new show for a while, therefore Dave & Igor bring you a blast from the past, so as not to deprive you of the sweet sounds of a bygone age. Normal service resumes soon, thank you for your patience!

On this week's episode, Dave travels to collect Igor after his Scottish vacation with his Aunt Nessie. It seems she's a terrible influence on him, as Igor is drunk. While he sleeps it off on the old Chesterfield, Dave takes influence from Igor being under the influence and plays a selection of sweet, swinging and (for the most) swigging-orientated sounds. Listen in to hear the likes of Jimmie Lunceford, Woody Herman, Hank Jones, The Andrews Sisters and many more. Though try not to wake the fish.

The Andrews Sisters:
Beer Barrel Polka
Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar

Jimmie Lunceford - Hittin' The Bottle
Paul Whiteman & his Orchestra - Cheerie Beerie Bee
Ruth Wallis - Jamaica Rum
Ben Webster - Days Of Wine & Roses

As Dave was away there's a repeat of two previous shows. Both he and Igor wouldn't want you to be without! This episode has a connection to his recent vacation, hence the replay.

It's 3 from 6, and what a fine and dandy selection it is. Old and new, not borrowed or blue. For a change. Though even the "old dear" rears her beautiful, sexy head on this week's show. Dave alerts the listeners to his imminent visit to London and the Doctor Who Experience…a place the pair will fit right in! Hopefully there'll be somewhere convenient to park (no need for the chameleon-circuit this time.) If you listen in you can hear the mesmerizing musical melodies of Doris Day, Duke Pearson, Jack Teagarden and more!
